Underpad which is also known as underlay is necessary to prolong the life of your area rug. A proper pad will hold your rug firm to the floor, protecting the knots. Also an area rug that lays flat will not wrinkle or crawl,  which is the main cause of fold wear, as well as fringe and binding damage. In other words a rug that lies flat will need less maintenance. Another consideration is safety. Underpad will prevent tripping or slipping and will feel comfortable to walk on. Our meshed under pad also helps reduce the risk of mould or mildew caused by accidental or unnoticed spills.
